Thanks to its USB 3.1 Gen 1 interface, the RDF9 achieves particularly high speeds of up to 260MB/s. Pretty much perfect for me.Transcend's RDF9 UHS-II card reader lets you take full advantage of your SDXC/SDHC UHS-II memory cards. It's hard to get excited about a card reader but this does all that I need, plugs directly into my MBP and is neat and small to look at and to carry. The device came packed in a horrid destroy-to-remove-product package but that's a minor irritation. An otherwise-invisible blue LED lights to confirm that it is powered and working when you connect. It also supports microSD (without needing an adaptor) and MS Duo/MS Pro. The reader covers CompactFlash and SD cards that I need. It runs at USB3 speeds so is visibly (and usefully) faster than my old USB2 reader I haven't done any measured timings. It doesn't need any other connection, as is usual with card readers. It's a very neat, compact device supplied with a detachable, approximately 50cm USB-C lead the connector at the reader end appears to be standard USB3 so I presume you could use other USB3 leads instead if you don't have USB-C connectors on your computer or need something longer.

I am using this with a late-2016 MacBook Pro (that has only USB-C connectors). Do note this is a usb 3.1 porduct and has input DC +5v 0.9A written on the underneath and it does come with a cable approx 40cm long. For the record I used proper ISO images Of Angel season 5 Box set muliple times to and from both card readers and 2.5" ssd, non of this benchmark nonsense but actual real copies, yeah for a mid range product it deserves a recommendation. Transcend Multi Card Reader RDF8 Specs USB 3.0: Up to 4.8 Gbps Data Transfer Backwards Compatible with USB 2.0 1 CF, 1 SDHC / SDXC Slot 1 M2/microSD, 1 MS PRO/XC/MS DUO Slot Supports SDHC UHS-1, SDXC UHS-1 Cards Supports UDMA6/UDMA7 CF, MSXC Cards Includes RecoveRx Data Recovery Software Final Thoughts Overall, I am very happy with the purchase. I give it full marks because for the price it is great value and something I would recommend to friends, dont be put off by it being plastic. do know the micro sd card reader is only UHS-I and when transfering internally from the two cards it wili only write at 50MB/s, the uhs-i works fine sending data externally 90MB/s.

The thing is for under £15 you get UHS-II sd card reading capabilty plus you can also add a micro sd card to the other slot and a compact flash card which makes this very good value for money.

Using a sandisk UHS-II standalone card reader I could ger 249MB/s read and 130MB/s write, but that costs over £22 and only lets me connect an sd card or a micro sd with adaptor can't add both and connecting the card is very fidley. I could transfere 74GB at a consistant 220MB/s from a lexar 1667x uhs-II card, I could average 110MB/s write to the card for £14.80. then when i used it I was suprised and pleased, it gets warm but doesn't ever get hot. At first when i opend it it felt like a toy, plastic.
